The thermocouple cable from type K (NiCr-Ni) is e.g. made for to extend mantle thermocouples by using pre-mounted connectors on the cable endings (male/female).Furthermore it can be used as a compensating cable to measure the cold junction temperature of the evaluation electronics in addition to the reference junction temperature. For the reason that the cold junction temperature may not necessarily be identical with the temperature on the mearsuring point the thermocouple has to be extended by means of a compensating cable. This have the same thermoelectric properties up to +200°C as the thermocouples themselves.
