A temperature sensor changes its resistance with increasing or decreasing temperature. A NTC thermistor reduces its resistance with increasing temperature, they are made of ceramics or silicon, and are generally referred to as a thermistor. PTC contrast, increase their resistance with increasing temperature. Platinum resistance sensors such as Pt100 sensors have a linear temperature-resistance characteristic. They can be used from -200…+850°C. Silicon sensors are used in a temperature range of -50…+150°C.
